Takayama Sakasa Kebari

Posted by on July 14, 2012

I hope Ashley Valentine doesn’t mind I copped this photo from her website, but I have to say that Chris Stewart’s tie of the Takayama Sakasa Kebari is an excellent example of the flytier’s craft.  This is a fly that one immediately and instictively recognizes as a “trout fly.”  The colors, proportions, symmetry and profile of this fly, I think, put it in the same class as the traditional Catskill dries.  And it contains peacock herl; we know trout can’t resist that.

Can’t wait to try it.
